5419 (2024). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: How many frontline roles are not filled at Corrections?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections’ recruitment campaign is ongoing and I have been assured that hiring and training frontline staff, who manage approximately 9,500 people in prison and 26,000 people in the community, remains a top priority for Corrections.
I am further advised that as at 31 March 2024, from a total of 9,865.57 FTE frontline roles, which includes those based in prisons and in Community Corrections, 869.6 FTE are unfilled.
This is also my response to WPQ 5420 (2024).
