5406 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Does he consider the revelation of 459 fraudulent licenses to represent a failure of governance, and what changes, if any, will be made to prevent recurrence?

Hon Chris Bishop: I do not consider this a failure of governance. NZTA has put in place improved guidance and requirements to ensure the appropriate issuing of licences from the United Arab Emirates. NZTA will also be working with both the Ministry of Transport and their agents nationwide on wider system improvements.
