5404 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Do public consultation materials for Stage One of the 2026 clean vehicle standards review explicitly state that abolition of the Clean Vehicle Standard is under active consideration, and if not, why not?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised by the Ministry of Transport that public consultation is not being undertaken for Stage 1 of the 2026 Clean Vehicle Standard review. In conducting the Stage 1 review, officials are engaging with the motor vehicle industry, international bodies, other government agencies including the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment, key advocacy groups and subject matter experts.
