5397 (2026). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Associate Minister of Education: Has he received any analysis from the Ministry or Treasury on how declining ECE availability might affect parental workforce participation and local economies?

Hon David Seymour: I don’t accept availability is declining. The Ministry of Education has told me the number of licenced places per child (aged 0 to 4) has increased. I removed red tape including network management requirements to make it easier for new centres to open.
