5389 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: How many of the 57 full time equivalent psychologists employed by Oranga Tamariki are working in each Oranga Tamariki service, including the number of full time equivalent in each youth justice facility?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised that, as at 31 January 2026, Oranga Tamariki employed 50.15 active full-time equivalent (FTE) in psychologist roles, including interns and Team Leaders. I am further advised within Youth Justice Services and Residential Care, there was 1 Senior Psychologist FTE each at Te Au Rere a te Tonga, Whakatakapokai and the Military-Style Academy programme. The remaining 47.15 FTEs were within the Tamariki and Whānau Services Business Unit. Oranga Tamariki also advises that some young people come to residence and continue an existing relationship with an ACC or private psychologist they have been working with in the community.
