5381 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Sport and Recreation: Was a selection panel set up to consider applicants for the role of Sport New Zealand Board Chair, and if so, who was on the selection panel?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I considered all expressions of interest and nominations received for the role of Sport New Zealand Board Chair. All shortlisted candidates were subject to a due diligence interview with a panel of Ministry for Culture and Heritage officials, comprising the Deputy Secretary Policy, Performance & Insights and the Manager System Performance. The panel also included a Senior Advisor System Performance for the majority of interviews.
