5373 (2026). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister of Internal Affairs: How many people, if any, have had their citizenship approved as a result of the Citizenship (Western Samoa) Act 1982?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised by the Department of Internal Affairs that information on the number of people granted citizenship under the Citizenship (Western Samoa) Act 1982 (the Act) is readily retrievable from 1 January 2023. Since that date 8893 individuals have been granted citizenship under the Act. This total excludes the 2327 people granted citizenship under section 7A of the Act, as noted in my WPQ 5370 (2026).
