5364 (2026). Oriini Kaipara to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: What fiscal savings, if any, are projected over the next five years from the enactment of the Social Security (Accident Compensation and Calculation of Weekly Income) Amendment Bill?

Hon Louise Upston: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) that this Bill confirms longstanding policy intent underpinning the Ministry’s approach to backdated ACC payments and charging income against past entitlement. As such, there are no fiscal savings projected – costs remain as they are now.
