Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: Was the Department of Internal Affairs' Digital Services and Digital Safety teams involved in the development, procurement, privacy assessment, and/or hosting arrangements for Student Monitoring, Assessment and Reporting Tool (SMART); if not, why not?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) approached Government Chief Digital Officer (GCDO) during the development of the Single-Stage Business Case for the Student Monitoring, Assessment and Reporting Tool (SMART). Following that engagement, the GCDO provided written confirmation that the Ministry should proceed with this work without direct involvement from the GCDO.
