5310 (2026). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: How, if at all, were Treasury's concerns that the SMART (Student Monitoring, Assessment and Reporting Tool) "need to have a more robust change management plan, clear data privacy and ownership policies, confirmation that the delivery timeline is achievable for all workstreams, and strengthened stakeholder engagement, particularly with Māori medium education providers" addressed by the Minister or the Ministry of Education?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) discussed with Government Chief Digital Officer (GCDO) during the development of the Single-Stage Business Case for the Student Monitoring, Assessment and Reporting Tool (SMART). Following that discussion, the GCDO provided written confirmation that the Ministry should proceed with this work without direct involvement from the GCDO.
