5292 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Who initiated the inclusion of abolition as a possible outcome of Stage One of the 2026 Clean Vehicle Standard review, and what reasons were provided for presenting abolition as an option?

Hon Chris Bishop: The Government. I refer the member to Cabinet Economic Policy Committee Minute of Decision ECO-25-MIN-0186, which has been proactively released on the Ministry of Transport website. The Government launched a full (first principles) review of the Standard. A full policy review should look at all options, including abolition.
