5283 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: Why was the possibility of abolition not publicly highlighted when the Government announced the 2026 review of the Clean Vehicle Standard, despite officials identifying it as a potential Stage One recommendation?

Hon Chris Bishop: It was. I refer the member to the press release titled Easing the cost of new and used imported vehicles, dated 17 November 2025. The Government launched a full (first principles) review of the Standard. A full review should look at all policy options, including abolition.
