5251 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: Will there be more social workers involved in delivering the second Oranga Tamariki Military-Style Academy; if so, how many and during what phase?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised by Oranga Tamariki the young people who participate in the new Military-Style Academy programme will each be supported by their site-based Youth Justice Social Worker. This support will be throughout both the residential and community phases. I am further advised the second programme team includes more Youth Workers and more Case Leaders, along with new roles such as Administrative Support Workers. I am further advised they will be an integral part of both the residential and community phases.
