5245 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: How, if at all, have mana whenua been involved in designing Oranga Tamariki's second Military-Style Academy?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised Oranga Tamariki has worked with the iwi provider Best Care (Whakapai Hauora) Charitable Trust on the design of the new Military-Style Academy programme. I am further advised the provider was also involved in delivery of the Military-Style Academy Pilot and has supported Oranga Tamariki in implementing lessons learned into the design of the new programme.
