5217 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Energy: What is the current level of compliance, if any, within the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, with NZ Government Web Standards, which require public sector websites to be accessible?
Hon Simon Watts: As Minister of Energy, I have no responsibility for any government departments or Ministries. In respect of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, I refer the Member to the Minister for Economic Growth's answer to written parliamentary question 5216 (2025). With regard to Crown entities under the energy portfolio, the EA and EECA, I am advised: EA: The Electricity Authority website (www.ea.govt.nz) was designed and built using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as a core reference throughout the project. While this means accessibility was considered from the outset, we have not completed a formal accessibility audit to confirm full compliance with the New Zealand Government Web Accessibility Standard. EECA: The Energy, Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) is fully compliant with NZ Government Web Standards.
