5215 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Vocational Education: What is the current level of compliance, if any, within the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, with NZ Government Web Standards, which require public sector websites to be accessible?

Hon Penny Simmonds: I am advised by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) that since 2022, the TEC web practice has embedded the latest NZ Government Web Standards within its design and development processes. For newly commissioned sites, design and development practices align with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 requirements in line with the NZ Government Web Standards. For existing websites designed to the older WCAG standards, there is a continuous improvement process to bring them up to the latest standard.
