Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister for Regulation: What communications, if any, did the Minister have with the Public Service Commissioner or Deputy Public Service Commissioner regarding the appointment of Gráinne Moss prior to the appointment, and did any of those communication indicate the Minister’s approval or his assent to the appointment?

Hon David Seymour: As previously advised in WPQ 3655, it is not my responsibility to appoint a Chief Executive, this falls within the responsibility of the Public Service Commissioner or Deputy Public Service Commissioner. I met with the Deputy Public Service Commissioner on two occasions and spoke on the phone regarding the process and the progress of the appointment, and my priorities for the Ministry. I supported the Commission’s assessment of the preferred candidate.
