5198 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Police: What is the current level of compliance, if any, within the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, with NZ Government Web Standards, which require public sector websites to be accessible?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Police recognises the importance of web accessibility and has taken action to address issues identified through the Department of Internal Affairs’ CWAC accessibility monitoring. Following remediation work, Police believes that all critical and serious accessibility issues have been addressed on Police.govt.nz and NewCops.govt.nz. The Serious Fraud Office website is scanned on a quarterly basis by the Government’s Centralised Web Accessibility Checker. As at the most recent scan of 17 December 2025 SFO scored 14/100, putting it ninth equal on the agency leaderboard (where zero is the best score and means no automatically detectable accessibility errors were found on any pages tested). The SFO’s website content is currently under review with accessibility one of the considerations for any changes.
