5194 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Land Information: What is the current level of compliance, if any, within the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, with NZ Government Web Standards, which require public sector websites to be accessible?
Hon Chris Penk: Land Information New Zealand last had its website accessibility assessed by the Department of Internal Affairs’ automated Centralised Web Accessibility Checker in December 2025.
The assessment identified one accessibility issue for its main website (linz.govt.nz). LINZ ranked in the middle of the public service leaderboard for all its websites. Work is underway to fix the issues identified for each of the nine websites LINZ is responsible for.
LINZ continues to prioritise website accessibility by following New Zealand Government Web Standards when creating and publishing content. This includes providing transcripts and captions for videos and adding alternative text for images wherever possible on web and social media platforms.
