5192 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Justice: What is the current level of compliance, if any, within the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, with NZ Government Web Standards, which require public sector websites to be accessible?
Hon Paul Goldsmith: The entities that I am responsible for are continually working to improve accessibility on all public websites. The Centralised Web Accessibility Checker (the CWAC) monitoring programme publishes quarterly data on accessibility scores for government websites, and a ‘leaderboard’, which can be found here: digital.govt.nz/standards-and-guidance/nz-government-web-standards/centralised-web-accessibility-checker-cwac. The Ministry of Justice (the Ministry) continues to work through a structured programme to address the CWAC insights and align with the Web Accessibility and Usability Standards. The Ministry manages web services for Te Tari Whakatau, who fall under the Ministry’s response, including the accessibility improvement activities.
