5185 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Finance: What is the current level of compliance, if any, within the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, with NZ Government Web Standards, which require public sector websites to be accessible?
Hon Nicola Willis: I am advised The Treasury operates six public facing websites and it uses both the Siteimprove web governance utility and the scoring and reporting from the Department of Internal Affairs' Centralised Web Accessibility Checker tool to assess their levels of accessibility compliance and to identify improvements. According to the Siteimprove utility the accessibility scores for these six websites range from 86% (Treasury website) to 92% (Debt Management website).
The RBNZ has informed me that they are 80% compliant with web accessibility standards (measured by the Acquia Web Governance app). They are working towards full compliance.
I am also advised the Natural Hazards Commission (NHC) website meets the requirements of the NZ Government Web Standards. I am further advised that NHC operates the Natural Hazards Portal, which is an interactive map used to find information about settled NHC natural hazard claims on residential properties. NHC has a project underway to upgrade the portal, which includes a focus on accessibility. I am advised the updated portal will meet the NZ Government Web Standards.
