5144 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Housing: Further to WPQ 611 (2026), have officials assessed whether the current supply of social and private rental housing is sufficient to meet demand from the 1,038 households not yet in stable housing, and if so, what were the findings?
Hon Tama Potaka: I am advised that Ministry of Housing and Urban Development officials are working with providers to place households in the Housing First programme but not yet in stable housing into suitable accommodation. This can include placement into Transitional Housing while providers work to secure a suitable longer-term housing solution. At all times, housing outcomes will remain the client’s choice, including how and where they wish to be housed. The Government is continuing to invest in new social housing to meet the needs of vulnerable households, including those in the Housing First programme.
