5048 (2024). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister of Finance: Has the Minister received advice on whether recent reductions in the public service will result in more children being withdrawn from early childhood education; if so, what was that advice?

Hon Nicola Willis: I have not received advice on reductions in the public service impacting early childhood education attendance. I have received preliminary advice that many more roles in frontline public service roles will be created through our Budget. Furthermore I am confident our FamilyBoost policy, combined with existing childcare subsidies, will ensure ECE becomes more affordable for many families.
