5047 (2024). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister of Finance: Does she stand by her statement regarding cost blow outs of $800 million for landlord tax cuts, $500 million on gambling tax, and $1.35 billion on indexing benefits that “we acknowledged that there would be some overs and unders, for example, the gambling tax, which will not make as much revenue in the first instance as we had hoped. Well, that's balanced out by the fact that the stop work notices on Labour policy programmes, which we did in our mini budget, brought in half a billion more than we had forecast in our plan. The commercial depreciation change, which we forecast in our plan, brought in $200 million more”, and if so, can she itemise what these ‘unders’ are by name and amount to date?
Hon Nicola Willis: Yes, I stand by this statement. The process of reconciling all costs and savings associated with our coalition commitments is occurring via the Budget 2024 process. This remains under active consideration by Ministers, and - consistent with ordinary Budget secrecy protocols - will remain confidential until Budget day on 30 May.
