5003 (2025). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Vocational Education: What funding has been assigned to re-design tertiary training pathways (working with the tertiary sector) for the addiction workforce, if any?

Hon Penny Simmonds: Any work to re-design tertiary training pathways is led by the Workforce Development Councils (WDCs) themselves. WDCs receive funding from the Tertiary Education Commission and decisions on where Councils direct this funding sit with Councils. The Tertiary Education Commission monitors funding across all WDCs. Tertiary training pathways for the addiction workforce would be led by Toitū te Waiora, which spans community, health, education, and social services sectors.
