Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: Further to 2318 (2025), how many care services has Oranga Tamariki purchased eight to nine months of capacity upfront, with the potential to agree the remaining three months of provision in the financial year, listed by service provided?

Hon Karen Chhour: Contracting is an operational matter for Oranga Tamariki, the responsibility for which sits with the Chief Executive. However, I am advised by Oranga Tamariki that there are 49 care providers that have been contracted using this approach. This figure does not include multi-year contracts. I am further advised by Oranga Tamariki that contracting is a dynamic process and procurement will happen during the course of the financial year.
