Written Question
Published date: 08 Mar 2026
4962 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Education: What advice, if any, did the Minister receive to substantiate her statement during her appearance at the Education and Workforce Select Committee that a lack of people with particular skills and experience on the Teaching Council Board is "how we got to this position", listed by date recevied and document and/or meeting title?
Hon Erica Stanford: The advice I received from the Ministry of Education on the evidence base for the changes to the Teaching Council can be found in the workforce reform papers proactively released on the Ministry’s website, here:
https://www.education.govt.nz/our-work/information-releases/issue-specific-information-releases/education-and-training-system-reform-amendment-bill
The Ministry’s advice is further affirmed by the findings of the Debbie Francis report.
This is also my response to written parliamentary question 4963 (2026).
