4954 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: Why are emergency department presentations by ethnicity not indexed to age structure of the population in Te Whatu Ora's quarterly performance report to December 31 2023??

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that for quarterly monitoring, Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora considers simple ethnicity splits to be appropriate, given short turnaround times for validating data and generating graphs. Age standardised rates are reported yearly as the reporting requires more analysis and epidemiological input.
