4907 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Associate Minister of Education
Written Question
Published date: 28 Feb 2025
4907 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Associate Minister of Education: When, if ever, will an assurance framework to ensure compliance of the providers for the Ka Ora, Ka Ako programme be developed and implemented?
Hon David Seymour: I am advised by the Ministry of Education that Service Agreements with suppliers are required to meet stringent performance targets and contractual requirements, which includes service levels and metrics for implementation and change management, meal provision (including food quality and safety and nutritional standards), service delivery and reliability, performance and feedback, sustainability, waste and surplus management, business continuity and contingency, and continuous improvement.
The Ministry will undertake regular scheduled supplier reviews, spot audits, manufacturing site visits and other compliance reviews.
When required, the Ministry will support suppliers with a performance management plan to make sure the high standard of food and delivery is maintained.
This is also my response to written parliamentary questions 4909, 4910, 4914, 4915, 4916 (2025).
