Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister of Police: What steps is the government taking to ensure that LGBTQ+ community groups have direct and effective channels of communication with law enforcement to report incidents of violence, if any, such as the incidents that have been reported at the Pride event?

Hon Mark Mitchell: The restoration of law and order. The Member will be delighted to have noted that for the first time in six years, violent crime reduced in 2024. This Government is restoring law and order, I am committed to ensuring the safety of everyone in New Zealand.
