4886 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister for Infrastructure: What criteria will be used to determine whether the Queenstown cable car project qualifies as nationally significant under the Fast-track Approvals Act 2024?

Hon Chris Bishop: Statutory criteria are used in the referral application process to determine whether projects have significant regional or national benefits. These criteria are laid out in section 22 of the Fast-track Approvals Act 2024. These criteria will be used when I make a decision on the Queenstown Cable Car project referral application.
