4884 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: What changes, if any, has the Ministry for Social Development made in response to the findings of the 2022 report by Karen Poutasi entitled 'Joint Review into the Children's Sector: Identification and response to suspected abuse'?

Hon Louise Upston: The Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) is part of a cross-agency working group that considers the recommendations made by Dame Karen Poutasi. Many of the recommendations are subject to legislative, Cabinet, or Ministerial consideration and the overall response is being led by Oranga Tamariki. In addition to being part of the cross-agency working group the Ministry continues to improve on their child protection practices, for example the Ministry has refreshed the 'ChildSafe' online learning module, which covers topics of child abuse and how to recognise and report child abuse.
