4834 (2026). Tamatha Paul to the Minister of Housing: How many, if any, tenants have been evicted since the Sustaining Tenancies Framework was ended in March 2024, broken down by ethnicity?
Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me its Sustaining Tenancies Framework ended on 30 June 2024. I refer the Member to the attached table for the number of tenants evicted, broken down by ethnicity. Note that an ‘eviction’ is a specific process involving the Tenancy Tribunal and the District Court, which only happens if a person refuses to leave the property after their tenancy has been terminated following an order from the tenancy tribunal. Evictions can also take place where required to remove individuals who are occupying a property unlawfully.
