4830 (2024). Hon Willie Jackson to the Minister for Media and Communications: Is the Ministry for Culture and Heritage undertaking a review of the Broadcasting Act; if so, on what date did the review begin?

Hon Melissa Lee: One of my priorities for the Media & Communications portfolio has been to review the Broadcasting Act 1989 and I have expressed this from the start of my appointment as Minister. On 4 January 2024 I formally agreed for officials at Manatū Taonga Ministry for Culture and Heritage to start work on a review of the Broadcasting Act 1989. I also understand that officials conducted preliminary work that was directed by the previous Minister for Broadcasting and Media.
