4778 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: How much, if any, did the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, spend fixing database security breaches in the 2023 calendar year?

Hon Louise Upston: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) that the Ministry and hosted agencies did not spend any money on fixing database security breaches in the calendar years of 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. The Ministry actively invests in its cybersecurity capabilities to detect, respond and manage security breaches across its systems and services. The Ministry does this by investing in their operational functions, which support all Ministry and hosted agencies' services; and their ongoing security programme, which gets regular investment and is part of the Ministry's organisational planning.
