Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the last quarter (September to December 2023), toward implementing the recommendation to ‘lead the development of a rare disorders strategy to coordinate efforts to address and improve the lives of people with rare disorders. This strategy will need to be a system view and based on a commitment to ensuring more equitable access to appropriate healthcare services from diagnosis through to treatment and other supports’ from the Pharmac Review final report?

Hon David Seymour: I am advised that strong progress was made in the last quarter (September to December 2023) towards completing development of a rare disorders strategy as recommended in the Pharmac review final report. Activities in that quarter included drafting strategy documents, consulting agencies, partner organisations and reference group members.
