4708 (2025). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister of Immigration: Has the Minister received any advice on the risk of increased foreign investment in non-productive assets, such as real estate, as a result of the Government's changes to the Active Investor Plus visa?

Hon Erica Stanford: The changes to Active Investor Plus visa have been deliberately designed to incentivise active investments through the Growth Category, such as a shorter investment period and reduced time in New Zealand requirements. The Balanced Category offers a broad range of investments to cater to different risk appetites. Investments in new residential property development, for example, can help support an increase in housing stock.
