4687 (2026). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: What initiatives, if any, does the Minister consider are "necessary" when it comes to affordability of insurance for kiwi consumers?

Hon Scott Simpson: The Government invited the Council of Financial Regulators agencies to gather information on the drivers of residential insurance pricing and affordability and the impact of recent price increases on consumers. Officials will report to ministers in mid-2026. Depending on the findings, further work may be undertaken to explore a policy response.
