4649 (2025). Scott Willis to the Minister for Energy: How many, if any, households were unable to pay their electricity, gas rates, or water bills on time more than once in the last 12 months, compared with the previous 5 years?

Hon Simon Watts: The Stats NZ Household Economic Survey includes the relevant data, however the figures for the last 12 months are not yet available. MBIE holds data on this measure from 2013 to 2022 which can be found in the publicly available Energy Hardship Measures Report here: https://www.mbie.govt.nz/assets/measures-of-energy-hardship-june-year-2022-report.pdf
