4616 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Hunting and Fishing: Does the Minister, or their office, use artificial intelligence in the preparation, editing, proof-reading, drafting, brainstorming, deliver or any other stage of creating speeches?
Hon James Meager: My office does not currently use AI to write speeches. We do use AI, such as Google searches, in our day to day work and this may include preparing and researching information for speeches. Agencies and Minister’s offices are free to use / encouraged to use GenAI in ways that are safe, transparent and responsible, in alignment with the recently released Responsible AI Guidance for the Public Service: GenAI. This includes ensuring that there is human review of GenAI outputs used to support the development of speeches and other written content such as advice and communications.
