4426 (2024). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety: What advice did she receive prior to deciding not to continue the All of Government Response on the Gloriavale Christian Community?

Hon Brooke van Velden: This Government has not appointed a lead Minister with overall responsibility for Gloriavale. Decisions in relation to Gloriavale are not the preserve of the Workplace Relations and Safety portfolio. Several Ministers, including myself, received written advice in December 2023 describing a coordination function established by the previous Government, which provided for operational agencies to brief a single lead Minister on their work with Gloriavale. That coordination function was time limited and was scheduled to end on 31 December 2023. A range of government agencies are continuing to work with Gloriavale, within their respective mandates, to ensure compliance with relevant laws and that the rights of all community members are respected.
