4381 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Emergency Management and Recovery: What impact, if any, will the decreased 2027/28 annual operating funding of Geohazard Information Services - GeoNet, the National Seismic Hazards Model and/or the 24/7 GeoHazard Monitoring Centre - have on New Zealand’s long-term emergency management resilience?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I refer the Member to my reply to Written Parliamentary Question 4388 (2025) and I have been advised that GeoNet is planning for the delivery of its programmes within its budget profile which may result in changes to the shape of GeoNet or the way its programmes are delivered. The National Emergency Management Agency, along with other involved agencies, are actively engaged with GNS Science to ensure critical operational functions are maintained and continually enhanced, within the budget profile.
