4310 (2025). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister of Immigration: What increase in foreign direct investment, if any, does the government expect as a result of the changes to the Active Investor Plus visa?

Hon Erica Stanford: It is not possible to predict demand for the Active Investor Plus visa for either the Growth category or the Balanced category. However, feedback from stakeholders is that they expect the more attractive settings and broader investment offerings will result in a significant increase in investor migrants coming to New Zealand. This is shown in the bottoming out of investment that occurred when the previous Government changed from the broader settings of the Investor 1 and 2 visa to the more restrictive settings of the AIP visa. I look forward to updating the member later this year.
