Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter July to September 2024 toward the objective ‘Raise awareness of hepatitis C in New Zealand in the general population and priority populations’ under ‘Focus area 1: Awareness and understanding’ in the National Hepatitis C Action Plan?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that during the July to September 2024 quarter, Health New Zealand re-launched the national awareness campaign ‘Stick it to Hep C’ to raise awareness about hepatitis C. A renewed nationwide push was undertaken to get at-risk people tested for hepatitis C. Regions set up several pop-up testing clinics and events with local providers, around the country to raise awareness in the lead up to World Hepatitis Day in July 2024.
