4204 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter July to September 2024 toward the objective ‘Increase the integration and coordination of hepatitis C-related prevention, harm reduction and treatment services’ under ‘Focus area 2: Prevention and harm reduction’ in the National Hepatitis C Action Plan?
Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that during the July to September 2024 quarter, a range of clinics continued to be provided by hepatitis C nurses and/or peer workers in needle exchanges and community-based settings, with a focus on linking people to treatment when required.
I am further advised that during the quarter, the Hepatitis C Treatment and Support Service in Northern Region created referral pathways from public health units. This includes analysing all hepatitis C cases to identify those that may require further testing and/treatment but have not been followed up by their treatment provider.
