4187 (2024). Scott Willis to the Associate Minister of Agriculture: What plans, if any, does the government have in supporting the wool sector amidst MPI’s proposed budget cuts?
Hon Mark Patterson: The Government is committed to supporting a thriving and productive wool sector. This is demonstrated by providing funding for Sustainable Food and Fibre Futures (SFF Futures) projects and a national woolshed roadshow over the next few months. There are currently 16 SFF Futures’ projects funded for wool related projects. The coalition government is also committed to “direct government agencies where practical and appropriate to preference the use of woollen fibres rather than artificial fibres in government buildings,” as stated in the National-New Zealand First coalition agreement.
