4177 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter July to September 2024 has been made toward actioning ‘Anti-stigma and discrimination initiatives for the wider public’ under ‘Focus area 4: Support for people living with HIV, including stigma and discrimination actions’ as recommended in the National HIV Action Plan?
Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that during the July to September 2024 quarter, Health New Zealand progressed development of a social marketing campaign to address stigma and discrimination experienced by people living with HIV. A working group that included people living with HIV led community engagement, and more than 200 people provided feedback that was used to develop the strategic recommendations. This work will inform further cross-government action to reduce stigma and discrimination.
