Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Has the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) completed its review of the 2023 consultation on options to address the safety risks posed by corded window coverings, including potential mandatory safety standards, if so, what were the key findings and recommendations?

Hon Scott Simpson: Following the 2023 public consultation, MBIE completed its analysis and provided advice to the Minister at the time. MBIE’s advice covered a range of regulatory and non-regulatory options, as set out in the discussion paper. I have asked officials for further advice on options to address risks posed by corded window coverings.
