4127 (2026). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: How many women currently in prison, if any, are assessed by Corrections as suitable for release but unable to be released due to the absence of suitable accommodation?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections is unable to provide the number of women in prison who are assessed as suitable for release but unable to be released due to the absence of suitable accommodation, as the Parole Board determine who is granted parole. I am further advised that to provide this information would amount to substantial collation and manual analysis, which I am not prepared to ask of my officials for the purposes of this response.
