4120 (2026). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: How many beds in women’s prisons, if any, are currently unavailable for operational use, and for what specific reasons (including maintenance, staffing shortages, or refurbishment)?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that currently two beds are unavailable for operational use in the women’s prison estate. The reason for this is to maintain safe and appropriate prisoner to staffing ratios.
